Universal Haptic Layer (UHL)

The Universal Haptic Layer is a set of libraries (in the form of a JAR file and .SO file) that you add to your application to enable haptics in your Android application (UHL supports Android versions 2.1 and later).  For an overview of what the UHL is, see What is the UHL? in the Basics section of the Developer Guide.  The UHL is all you need to add pre-defined haptic effects to your application.

Haptic Studio Tool

Haptic Studio is a Windows-based tool that allows you to design your own custom tactile sensations.  Haptic Studio is designed for use with handsets that include the TouchSense Player.  See the TouchSense handsets list to identify a TouchSense-enabled handset available in your region.

We recommend that you download the Universal Haptic Layer in addition to Haptic Studio.  You can use UHL to play effects created with Haptic Studio.

The Haptic Studio package also contains APIs and documentation for implementing haptics in applications for other operating systems, like Java Mobile Edition or Windows CE.  If you are an Android Developer, all you need to focus on is the content on this website, and the Haptic  Studio tool itself.

Universal Haptic Layer (UHL) Plug-In for appMobi XDK - HTML 5 / PhoneGap

This plugin allows you to use the Immersion Universal Haptic Layer (UHL) within HTML 5 and PhoneGap web environments when building applications using the appMobi XDK. This plugin also includes a step-by-step tutorial and sample application for using this plugin within the appMobi XDK.
