Case Study Gallery - Rhinoceros

Hand Sculpted Fictional Characters - by Rachel Wilson
Courtesy of www.twinfish.com

"My interest laid in exploring the relationship between the physical and virtual worlds, and the cross over between each. Sculpture was my first love, and I wanted to somehow combine 3D modeling with it. The MicroScribe allowed me to do this.

I started with conceptual sketches, which I then created plaster/paper mache sculpted versions from. The surfaces of these physical models were really quite rough, some parts were missing, and in each case I only constructed half of the model.

I was able to capture and edit the data with the MicroScribe working with Rhino in a very short amount of time - days versus weeks. I can't even imagine trying to create complex models any other way!"
