TouchSense® API

Developers of embedded and third-party applications for TouchSense-enabled handsets use the TouchSense API to invoke pre-recorded haptic effects from files or streams, or to synthesize haptic effects under real-time programmatic control.

The TouchSense API provides consistency, portability, and above all, a fine degree of dynamic control over the most important parameters of haptics, including envelope, frequency, and texture.

Contrast this with legacy vibration APIs, which are fragmented across platforms and manufacturers, and typically control only coarse on-off vibration.

TouchSense API language bindings and documentation for all major mobile platforms are included in the TouchSense Engineering Toolkit, available for free download by registered developers.
