Laparoscopy Virtual Reality Simulation Modules
LapVR™ Modules
The LapVR™ System combines laparoscopic simulation software with
haptic-enabled hardware, providing a complete virtual reality training
tool. By virtually simulating the procedures and environment of abdominal
keyhole surgery, the LapVR surgical simulator can provide an effective
learning experience. Clincial studies show that novice surgeons trained
using laparoscopic simulators build skills that actually transfer into
the OR.
The LapVR virtual reality simulator was designed to help surgeons acquire,
maintain, and assess the motor skills and knowledge needed to conduct
various laparoscopic procedures. The system supports both individual and
team training and provides a laparoscopic training curriculum made up
of five basic skills with increasing levels of difficulty. A laparoscopic
cholecystectomy module with 18 case variations is also included. The online
manual and video tutorial demonstrate use of the modules.
