The values shown in the column labeled Frost & Sullivan Study Data
are median results from the six-month study encompassing over 200 U.S.
hospitals, universities, and community colleges. Download the study's report in PDF format (542 k).
Step 1: Time Savings
The Frost & Sullivan study used Immersion Medical's first laparoscopy
simulation system. Similar benefits may be obtained using the next-generation
Immerson Medical Laparoscopy Virtual Reality Simulation System. Findings
showed that laparoscopy simulation training provides procedural time savings
when trainees gain proficiency and therefore speedier technique, and that
time savings can have a beneficial impact on operating room costs. Instructor
time may be saved because the simulator allows for more independent learning.
