The video program demonstrates a real PICC insertion from start to finish, including patient education to final pressure dressing. After viewing each part of the procedure, you'll read the appropriate section of the manual and answer the knowledge assessment questions. After all four sections are finished, you take the 50-question post-test. This part of the course helps prepare you for performing a simulated midline or PICC insertion practicum under supervision. Your chosen supervisor (a physician or other professional who is PICC qualified) must complete the competencies checklist provided in the logbook to verify that you performed adequately.

You’ll then return the post-test answer sheet, practicum competency checklist, section questions, and course evaluation to PICC Excellence. Your knowledge and performance will be graded, and if successful completion is achieved, you will receive a certificate with a cover letter stating that now you need to do supervised midline or PICC insertions on patients to the point of competency. This course meets and exceeds the minimum recommended curriculum for midline and PICC insertion training.
