insertion and care. Mastery of PICC line insertion takes some time, especially
with children and infants. This class attempts to give you a head start
with the PICC insertion technique, providing minimum educational requirements
for beginning practicum midline and PICC training.
The examples and practice issues give you a better understanding of PICC
line procedures to aid your success. Overall this is a clinically based
PICC training class that allows you to become qualified to begin inserting
pediatric PICC lines, under supervision, based on the policies of your
institution.
Each of four sections includes knowledge assessment questions. Also included
is a comprehensive 50-question post-test. In addition, you will need a
preceptor or supervisor to check off that you have demonstrated practicum
competencies. To receive CEUs, you must complete the knowledge assessment
post-test answer sheet, class evaluation, and verified competencies checklist,
and send these documents to PICC Excellence.
